When a Content Plan Will Not Build

Almost every blocked content plan traces back to one of four things: the offering is not Active, its fit analysis has not run, no segment scores high enough, or the page was reloaded mid-build.

Content plan creation depends on work done elsewhere in your brand — specifically on your offerings being Active and analysed, and your audience segments being approved. Most of what looks like a failure on the content plan screens is actually a missing prerequisite upstream.

Work through the issues below in order. The first four cover screens that block you before a build starts; the rest cover builds that start and then stop.

Troubleshooting Guide

Did the build screen appear at all?

Yes → The prerequisites are satisfied — skip to the build-step issues further down.
No → You are blocked on the picker. Check whether the offering is Active and analysed, or whether the segment is Approved.

Is the offering you want marked Active under Brand → Offerings?

Yes → Check its Data Health column next — the fit analysis may not have run.
No → Activate it. Archived and Draft offerings are excluded from both content plan tracks.

Does the Data Health column show the fit analysis and objective mapping as complete?

Yes → The offering is eligible. If it is greyed out in the dropdown, it already has its own offering plan.
Open the offering and run its Offering-Audience Fit Analysis. Until that exists, Zyntro has no fit scores to plan against and the build will stop at the first step.

Known Issues

Symptom

The offering screen says "No active offerings to plan for"

Cause

Content plans are built only from offerings with a status of Active. Archived offerings are excluded because planning content for something you have retired is rarely intended, and Draft offerings are excluded because they have not been analysed yet — offering them could only produce a failed build.

Solution

Go to Brand → Offerings and set at least one offering to Active. If none of your offerings are ready, the message also links you to the audience track, which may still be available.

Symptom

The offering I want is greyed out in the dropdown

Cause

That offering already has its own offering plan. Zyntro allows one offering plan per offering.

Solution

Open the existing plan from Marketing → Content → Content Plans and work from there — you can approve or reject its topics individually, so you do not need to accept the whole plan to use part of it. If you want to reach this offering with new content, you can also build an audience plan that includes it; audience plans are not limited this way.

Symptom

An offering is greyed out even though its only plan is an audience plan

Cause

This should not happen. Only an offering's own offering plan greys it out — appearing inside an audience plan does not.

Solution

Check the Connected Offering column on the plans list. If a plan shows an audience segment's name rather than an offering, it is an audience plan and should not be blocking anything. If the offering is still greyed out, contact support with the offering's name.

Symptom

The audience screen says "No approved audience segments yet"

Cause

The audience track is built only from segments with a status of Approved. Segments still in draft or review are not offered.

Solution

Go to Brand → Brand Intelligence → Audiences, review your segments, and approve at least one.

Symptom

I picked a segment and the offerings panel says none have been scored against it

Cause

The fit scores that rank this panel come from each offering's Offering-Audience Fit Analysis. If no Active offering has been analysed against that segment, there is nothing to rank.

Solution

Go to Brand → Offerings, open an offering, and run its Offering-Audience Fit Analysis. The Data Health column on the offerings list shows you which offerings still need it. Once at least one offering has been scored against the segment, return to the audience picker.

Symptom

A red "We couldn't start this plan" panel appears instead of the build screen

Cause

The audience track re-validates your choices before it starts: the segment must belong to this brand and be Approved, and at least one valid offering must be selected. This usually appears when the build URL was bookmarked, shared, or hand-edited, so the selection did not survive.

Solution

Click Start again and make the selection on the picker screen rather than reusing a saved link.

Symptom

The first build step fails saying the offering's audience analysis has not been done

Cause

The offering has no fit analysis on record. The usual route to this is activating an offering before its analysis has run, since Draft offerings are normally filtered out of the picker for exactly this reason.

Solution

Go to Brand → Offerings, open that offering, and run its Offering-Audience Fit Analysis. Then start the plan again.

Symptom

The build reports that no topics were created

Cause

On the offering track, Zyntro only plans for audience segments scoring 80 or higher against the offering. If no segment clears 80, there is no audience to plan for and no topics can be produced.

Solution

Open the offering's Offering-Audience Fit Analysis and look at the scores. If every segment is below 80, the offering's positioning and your segment definitions are not yet describing the same people — sharpen the offering's problem statement and desired outcomes, re-run the analysis, then try the plan again. You can also reach that offering through an audience plan instead, which ranks by fit rather than requiring 80.

Symptom

One offering in an audience plan came back with noticeably fewer topics or no keyword data

Cause

Keyword research discards results below a minimum monthly search volume. An offering whose keywords are all long-tail and low-volume can come back with little or nothing, while the other offerings in the same plan look healthy.

Solution

This does not fail the plan — the other offerings still produce their topics. If an offering consistently comes back thin, its keyword seeds are probably too narrow. Broaden the offering's description and keywords under Brand → Offerings so the research has wider terms to work from.

Symptom

I reloaded the page during the build and lost it

Cause

The build screen drives the pipeline from the open tab. Reloading abandons the run.

Solution

Start the plan again from the picker. Any research that completed before the reload is not wasted — keyword research and objectives are stored against the offering, so the retried build will skip the steps that already finished for those offerings and reach the end faster.

Symptom

The build is taking far longer than the stated times

Cause

The stated durations are per step and assume research is needed. An audience plan built from offerings Zyntro has never analysed does that research for each of them, so a five-offering selection of brand new offerings is the slowest possible build.

Solution

Let it run and keep the tab open. If you want faster audience plans, select fewer offerings, or favour offerings you have already planned against — those are reused rather than researched.

Symptom

A plan appears in the list with an empty Objective column

Cause

The objective is inferred during the build. On rare occasions it can come back blank while the rest of the plan is complete and correct.

Solution

The plan itself is usable — open it with View Plan and check that its topics are present. If the topic list is complete, the blank objective is cosmetic. If you want it populated, build the plan again; the research will be reused so the rebuild is quick.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not on the offering track — Zyntro allows one offering plan per offering, and the offering appears greyed out in the picker once it has one. You can reach the same offering again by building an audience plan that includes it, and audience plans have no such limit.

Yes, as many as you like. The picker shows you how many the segment already has, but never blocks it. A different set of offerings aimed at the same audience produces a genuinely different plan.

No. Building and rebuilding plans is free. You are charged when content is actually produced from an approved topic, so there is no cost to planning more than you publish.

No. Five is the hard limit and three is the recommended number. The cap exists because each offering Zyntro has not analysed before adds a full round of keyword and objective research to the build.

No. A finished plan is a set of researched topics with a status of Draft. Nothing is written, scheduled or published until you approve topics and schedule them.

Because in practice most of your offerings score above 80 against most of your segments, so a threshold would exclude almost nothing. The score is there to order the list and to let you see the reasoning behind that order, so you can choose deliberately instead of accepting whatever appears first.

No. It needs to exist, not to be recent. Re-run it when you change an offering's positioning or redefine your audience segments — those are the inputs it depends on.

Tip: Before starting any content plan, open Brand → Offerings and read the Data Health column. It tells you in one glance whether each offering's fit analysis and objective mapping are complete — which is the prerequisite behind most build failures.

Need More Help?

If a build fails repeatedly on the same step with the same offering, contact support with the offering's name and the step it stopped on. That is enough to trace it.
