Five Ways to Create a Page

How much Webby writes and how much you bring, for each of the five routes.

New Page opens on a choice of five methods. They are not five flavours of the same thing — they differ in how much Webby designs and how much you supply, which makes the choice worth thirty seconds of thought.

The wrong choice is rarely broken, just wasteful. Pasting a privacy policy into the full design flow works, but it spends a page generation on a job the legal mode does for a fraction.

Capabilities

Build with Webby

The full flow. You describe the page's purpose, audience and focus; Webby plans a narrative, you review it, then it builds every section. For real pages that have to persuade someone.

Build from Template

One design that serves unlimited addresses — every blog post from a single page. For content that arrives continuously.

Import from Claude

You already have a standalone HTML design. Webby converts it into editable blocks matched to your design system.

Legal / Policy Page

Paste your privacy policy or terms and get a clean, readable page. Skips the narrative planning entirely, because legal text is not a narrative.

Build Yourself

An empty page. No generation, nothing to approve, no charge. You add blocks one at a time, or use it as a shell for an embed.

Choosing between them

Method What you bring Reach for it when
Build with Webby A purpose, an audience, your assets The page has a job to do and you want it argued well
Build from Template A content type and a fragment Many addresses share one design
Import from Claude A finished HTML design The design already exists and you want it editable
Legal / Policy Page The text itself The words are fixed and only formatting is needed
Build Yourself Everything You want full control, or a shell for an embed

How It All Fits Together

Whichever route you take, you end up in the same place: the page editor, with a draft page you can edit, add to and publish. The method decides how the first version gets made, not what you can do afterwards.

All of them begin the same way too. Every method asks for a page type — homepage, feature, solution, product, service, pricing, about, team, case study, landing, campaign, manifesto, contact or custom — plus a page name and a URL slug. The type is not cosmetic: it tells Webby what kind of page this is meant to be, which shapes everything it generates.

Important: Generating a page is a charged action, and the cost is shown before it runs. Importing a design and formatting a legal page are charged too, at different rates, and both tell you first. Build Yourself generates nothing and costs nothing.
