Send Days, Send Window and Timezone
When a campaign is allowed to work, and whose clock it uses.
An intelligent broadcast is worked through gradually, so it needs to know when it is allowed to work. Two controls on the Schedule step decide that, and a third says whose clock they are read against.
These controls belong to intelligent campaigns. A standard broadcast sends immediately or at a single scheduled time, so it has no days or window to set.
The controls
Send Days
days of the week
optional
The days the campaign may write and send. Saturday and Sunday are off by default. Switch all seven on for a campaign that should not pause at weekends.
Default: Monday to Friday
Send Window
start and end time
optional
The hours within those days when the campaign may work. Outside the window nothing is written and nothing is sent.
Default: 09:00 to 17:00
Timezone
timezone
optional
The zone both the window and the days are read in. Set it to the zone you think in, and 9am means 9am there.
Default: your organization's timezone
How the window behaves
| If you set | What happens |
|---|---|
| 09:00 to 17:00 | The campaign works between those hours, in the chosen timezone, on the chosen days. |
| 22:00 to 06:00 | A window that crosses midnight is handled as one window, not two. It runs from ten at night through to six the next morning. |
| Only a start time, or only an end | A half-set window is treated as no window at all, so the campaign is not silently blocked by an incomplete setting. |
| No window and no days | The campaign works continuously until the audience is finished. |
| A window narrower than the audience needs | The campaign stops when the window closes and picks up again when it reopens. A large audience with a two-hour window can take days. |
Warning: Campaigns created before the timezone control existed carry no timezone, and their hours are read in UTC. The campaign page labels those as UTC rather than leaving you to assume they are in your own time.
Tip: The window is checked again for each contact, not just once when the campaign starts. A campaign that is still working as its window closes stops there rather than running past it.
