Marking a Strategy Document

From a file to something SI follows.

The strategy toggle appears only when the resource type is Attachment. Switch types and it disappears, because only a document can be read as one.

Before You Begin

  • The document must be a PDF, a plain text file, or Markdown.
  • It must already be selected as the attachment's file.
  • It should be written as guidance about engaging people, not as product copy.

Steps

Add the attachment as usual

Choose Attachment as the type, browse to the file, and give it a title.

Turn on "This is a strategy document"

A guidance box opens beneath the toggle.

Tell SI how to read it

How should SI read this document? is your perspective on the file: who it was written for, how its sections map to the relationship, what to ignore. For example — written for our realtor segment; the week 1 and week 2 sections are the first two touches; ignore the pricing appendix, it is out of date. SI also sees this note every time it uses the strategy.

Set the scope

Product and Audience Scope decide who the strategy governs. A strategy left on All applies brand-wide.

Save, and wait for the reading pass

Saving starts the read. It takes a minute or two and shows its progress; when it finishes, the review screen opens automatically.

Result

The card in your library now carries a Strategy badge with its state — how many items were found, or that the read failed. Reopening the resource gives you Review extracted strategy and Re-parse.

Nothing takes effect until you have reviewed and saved the items.

Troubleshooting

Strategy documents must be PDF, TXT or MD. A word-processor file or a slide deck has to be exported to PDF first.

Replacing the file or editing the guidance note means the stored items no longer describe the document. Save again to re-read it.

You can close the progress panel and come back. The result lands on the resource's card when it is done.

The resource type is not Attachment. Only attachments can be strategy documents.
