Compressing a Mandate
Shorten a mandate's machine instructions, check the result, and apply or restore it.
Compression rewrites a mandate's machine instructions and notes in fewer words while keeping every rule. You run it from the mandate's page, review the result field by field, and only then decide whether to apply it. It is free.
Steps
Open the mandate
Go to Library > Mandates and click View on the mandate you want to compress.
The page has three columns. Machine Instructions is the right-hand one.
Click Compress Mandate
Click Compress Mandate, to the right of the Machine Instructions heading.
A window opens with the message Compressing this mandate. It usually takes about a minute. The window stays open until the work is done, and the button is disabled meanwhile, so the mandate cannot be compressed twice at once.
Read the summary at the top
When it finishes, the top of the window shows:
- How much smaller the whole mandate becomes, for example 18% smaller
- The split between Machine instructions and Notes
- How many fields were rewritten
If some fields were kept as written, a grey box lists each one and the reason, such as lost the number 30. Those fields keep their original text — the shorter version would have dropped something.
Review each field
Each rewritten field is shown with its name in bold, the original in a red Before panel and the new text in a green After panel. Only fields that changed are shown.
For each one, check that:
- Every rule in the original is still there
- Each condition is still attached to its rule — when X, do Y has not become do Y
- The strength is unchanged — never is still never
The list scrolls; the summary and the buttons stay in place.
Apply or cancel
Click Apply to put the shorter version live. The page reloads with the new machine instructions and notes, and SI uses them from the next message or call.
Click Cancel to close the window without changing anything.
After applying, a line under the heading reads, for example, Compressed 16th Oct, 2026 · 18% smaller. with a Restore original link.
Restore the original, if you need it
Click Restore original. The line asks Restore the original wording? — click Restore to confirm, or Cancel.
This puts back the exact wording the mandate had before it was first compressed, notes included — even if you have compressed it more than once since.
Result
Your mandate now carries the same rules in fewer words. Every email, text, review and Phona call that reads it uses less of its room on the mandate, and the original wording is stored in case you want it back.
Warning: Two later actions interact with compression:
- Update Mandate regenerates the mandate from your guidance, so the new version is written at full length. Compress it again afterwards.
- Changing the machine instructions with Edit Mandate after compressing turns off Restore original, because restoring would throw your edits away.
Troubleshooting
The mandate is already about as tight as it can be, or every possible rewrite would have dropped something. There is nothing to do — the mandate is unchanged.
The shorter version lost a number, a name or quoted wording, so the original was kept. That is deliberate. If you want it shorter anyway, edit that field yourself with Edit Mandate.
The mandate was edited or regenerated between running compression and clicking Apply, so the result no longer matches it. Click Compress Mandate again.
The result was already applied, or replaced by a later run. Click Compress Mandate again.
Restoring would discard those edits, so Zyntro refuses. Change the wording back with Edit Mandate, or regenerate it from your guidance with Update Mandate.
Every field is a short label, a number or a protected list, so there is nothing to shorten.
Nothing has been changed. Wait a moment and click Compress Mandate again.
