Troubleshooting offers

The things that go wrong with offers, and what each one actually means.

Most problems with offers come down to one of three things: the offer is not in a state anything can use, a setting is doing less than its name suggests, or something that looks like tracking is not tracking.

Start with the decision tree if you are not sure which you have.

Troubleshooting Guide

Is the offer's status Done?

Yes → Does the offer page show finished copy in the right-hand column?
No → The offer is at Draft or Enhancing, so nothing can use it yet.

Does the offer page show finished copy in the right-hand column?

Yes → Are you expecting it through Segmentation Intelligence, or through a smart tag?
No → There is no description, so the offer is skipped. Write the four fields yourself and save.

Are you expecting it through Segmentation Intelligence, or through a smart tag?

Through SI: the offer is available, and SI chooses when to raise it — absence from a given message is normal. Through a tag: send yourself a test and check the tag was inserted from the panel rather than typed.

Is the offer at Draft after you asked for the enhancement?

The generation did not complete and the offer was released so you are not stuck. Nothing was charged. Write the copy yourself, or delete the offer and create it again.

Known Issues

Symptom

Segmentation Intelligence never mentions my offer

Cause

Either the offer is not in a usable state, or SI has judged it not relevant.

Solution

Check two things on the offer page. First, the status must be Done. Second, the right-hand column must contain a description — if the page tells you the offer has not been enhanced, that is your answer, and writing the four fields and saving fixes it.

If both are fine, the offer is available and SI is choosing not to raise it. That is normal and expected: an offer is only worth mentioning when the contact's situation fits. If you need the offer in a specific message to specific people, put it in a template with a smart tag instead.

Symptom

The offer is stuck on Enhancing

Cause

The generation did not report back.

Solution

A full run takes a couple of minutes and can take longer when your brand setup is large. If it is still Enhancing well past that, create the offer again.

If a second attempt also sticks, contact support with the offer name rather than creating a third — a repeat points at something worth looking at.

Symptom

A smart tag came through empty in a sent message

Cause

The field the tag names has no content on the offer.

Solution

The description, terms and instructions tags read the finished copy. An offer created without the enhancement has none of it, so those tags resolve to nothing and the message goes out with a gap.

Open the offer, write the four fields in the right-hand column, and save. Then send yourself a test before sending the campaign.

Always test a template that references an offer. An empty tag leaves no error anywhere — the message simply goes out incomplete.

Symptom

The literal tag text appeared in the message instead of the offer

Cause

The tag was edited after it was pasted, or typed by hand.

Solution

An offer tag has to name both a field and a specific offer, and it is only valid in the exact form the panel produces. Delete what is in the template and insert a fresh tag from Available {smart_tags} rather than correcting the text in place.

Symptom

Codes are not being tracked, and nothing shows who used what

Cause

Zyntro records your code setup; it does not issue or redeem codes.

Solution

This is a limit rather than a fault. The code format you define, and any code list you upload, are stored with the offer. No unique code is handed to a contact, nothing is marked as used, and nothing expires.

If you need one code per customer with real redemption tracking, it has to come from the system that honours the deal — your store platform, your payment provider or your booking system. Use a fixed code in Zyntro and let that system own the uniqueness.

Symptom

An offer whose deadline has passed is still being offered

Cause

An offer type describes the deal; it does not switch the offer off.

Solution

Nothing retires an expired offer. Once it is Done it stays available until you act.

Delete the offer, or edit its text to reflect the new terms. If you want an offer you can leave in place indefinitely, use a rolling expiry — the window is counted from when each contact receives it, so it cannot go stale.

Symptom

An offer locked to one audience was mentioned to someone else

Cause

The locks shape the generated copy, not who receives the offer.

Solution

This is the intended behaviour, and it surprises people, so it is worth stating plainly: no part of Segmentation Intelligence filters offers by their locks.

If an offer genuinely must not reach certain contacts, make the condition explicit in the offer's terms so any message that quotes them carries it. Do not rely on a lock for that.

Symptom

The enhancement quoted a price or saving we do not offer

Cause

The copy is written from your recorded pricing.

Solution

Correct the wording in place on the offer page and save — that fixes this offer immediately, including in every template that references it.

Then check your recorded pricing, because the next offer you write will inherit the same figures. When pricing is absent the copy is written without it, which is safer than wrong.

Symptom

The CSV of codes was refused

Cause

The file did not meet one of the stated limits.

Solution

The file must be a .csv of at most 5MB holding a single column of codes, with no more than 10,000 of them and none longer than 100 characters.

Only the first column of each row is read. A header row named code is skipped, blank rows are dropped, and duplicates are removed ignoring case. If the message said no usable codes were found, every row was blank or the codes were in a later column.

Symptom

Image generation failed or produced nothing

Cause

Usually no prompt was loaded, or the balance was short.

Solution

Click one of the prompt cards on the left before choosing Generate Image — the panel stays in its waiting state until a prompt is loaded.

If a prompt was loaded, check the balance shown above the form. Each variation is charged as its own image, so four variations cost four times one. Retry with a single variation and a simpler prompt.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, and you should when something is wrong. Both Segmentation Intelligence and smart tags read the offer's current text at the moment they are used, so an edit takes effect for everything sent from then on. Messages already sent are unchanged.

No. Save Offer Changes only stores what is on screen. Only the enhancement and image generation are charged, and each shows its cost before you commit.

Because it is a sample of the format, not an issued code. For a generated format a fresh example is drawn on each visit, to show you the shape a code takes. A fixed code shows the same value every time.

No. Those are set when the offer is created and the offer page shows them read-only under Rules & Methods. To change them, create the offer again with the settings you want and delete the old one.

Keep the ones you genuinely honour. Every finished offer is available to Segmentation Intelligence, so an offer left in place after you stopped running it can still be raised with a customer. A short, current list is better than a long, historical one.

No. They are written for you to copy and publish yourself. Nothing in Zyntro schedules or sends them.

No. They are saved as media assets in their own right and stay in your library.

Need More Help?

If an offer sticks on Enhancing twice in a row, or a smart tag resolves empty for an offer that clearly has finished copy, get in touch with the offer's name and the template you were sending. Those two cases point at something on our side rather than in your setup.
