When a Live Session Goes Wrong

What to check while it matters.

Live sessions fail in a small number of ways, and almost all of them trace back to the meeting not existing, or to attendees arriving by a route that cannot identify them.

Known Issues

Symptom

Registrants are stuck in the waiting room

Cause

There is no meeting for them to join.

Solution

Go Live was never pressed. Check the Setup column on My Webinars reads Meet Ready, press Go Live, and they will be moved through.

Symptom

The console stays in its waiting phase

Cause

The conference has not begun.

Solution

Opening Google Meet is not the same as starting the conference. Once someone is actually in it, the console moves itself to the live view and the status becomes Live Now.

Symptom

People in the room are not matched to contacts

Cause

A meeting supplies display names, not email addresses.

Solution

Match them by hand on the console. If they never registered there may be nobody to match them to.

Symptom

Attendance has no watch times

Cause

It has not been finalised.

Solution

Finalise attendance after the conference ends. It also runs on its own, so if the figures are right, nothing is missing.

Symptom

No follow-up emails were produced

Cause

Processing has not completed, or nobody is recorded as having attended.

Solution

Check the registrant list first — processing only covers people with an attended status. If attendance looks right, press Execute Processing; pressing it again is safe.

Symptom

There is no recording afterwards

Cause

The recording could not be arranged, and that failure is not surfaced.

Solution

A live webinar is never blocked from running because the recording failed. If the recording matters, confirm one exists rather than assuming — there is no replay without it.

Symptom

I cannot delete the webinar

Cause

It is still Live Now.

Solution

End it first. The product refuses to delete a live webinar.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. The console notices whenever it begins, and the status follows. Starting early to check your setup is sensible.

Recording is arranged for every live webinar and there is no switch to turn it off — a webinar exists to be recorded and replayed.

Yes. The session is a normal meeting, so anyone you admit can present.

The session carries on — it is in the meeting, not in the console. Reopen the console to pick up the participant view.
