Before You Create Your First Webinar
A short list, worth checking first.
The builder will let you create a webinar with very little, and leave it in draft until the missing piece arrives. That is fine, but it is quicker to have the one thing your type needs before you start.
Before You Begin
- For a pre-recorded webinar (Evergreen or Just-in-Time): the video file. It is uploaded in the builder and needs to finish processing before anyone can watch.
- For a live webinar: nothing in advance — the meeting link is created for you when you press Go Live.
- A verified sending domain, so registration confirmations actually arrive.
- A title and a one-line headline. Both appear on the registration page, and the headline is what persuades people.
Steps
Decide the type first
It changes every later step, and it is not worth changing afterwards.
Have the video ready if it is pre-recorded
Processing takes a while on a long recording. Starting the upload early means it is ready by the time you have written the registration page.
Check your sending domain is verified
Registration sends a confirmation. An unverified domain is the most common reason registrants say they never heard anything.
Know your duration
It defaults to 60 minutes and is shown to registrants, so set it to the truth. For a pre-recorded webinar the video's own length is what actually governs.
Result
With the video or the date in hand, building the webinar itself is a short job. Most of the time goes on the registration page and the assets you attach, both of which you can refine after the webinar exists.
