Prerequisites

Set Up Calendar Sync in Thunderbird

Four steps on a desktop, with changes travelling both ways.

Before You Begin

Thunderbird supports this kind of calendar natively, so there is nothing extra to install.

Use the Base URL (Android / Thunderbird) form of the address — the full link, the same one Android uses, not the bare name iPhone wants.

Steps

Open the calendar and start a new one

Switch to Calendar in Thunderbird, then choose New Calendar.

Choose a network calendar

Select On the Network and continue. This is the option for a calendar that lives on a server rather than in a local file.

Enter your details

Give Thunderbird:

  • Location — the Base URL from Zyntro, the full link.
  • Username — the email address you use for Zyntro.
  • Password — your app password.

Thunderbird finds the calendars available to you.

If Thunderbird finds nothing, the address is the usual culprit — check it is the full link including https:// and the trailing slash.

Choose your calendars and finish

Select the calendars you want and complete the wizard. They appear in Thunderbird's calendar list, and you can colour them as you like.

Changes travel both ways from this point: edit in Thunderbird and Zyntro follows, and the reverse.

Result

Your Zyntro calendars are in Thunderbird alongside anything else you keep there, syncing in both directions.

As with a phone, anything you add in Thunderbird blocks that time in Zyntro.

Tip: Use a separate app password for each computer. If you set Thunderbird up on a work and a home machine, two passwords named for each let you cut one off without touching the other.
