When a Calendar Connection Does Not Work
Which direction you actually set up, and how long each provider really takes.
Start with the direction. Bringing your calendar into Zyntro and showing your Zyntro calendar elsewhere are separate, one-way connections, and expecting one to do the other accounts for most reports here.
After that, it is usually patience. Both Google and Outlook fetch a subscribed calendar on their own schedule, typically hours, and neither offers a refresh button.
Known Issues
There is no secret iCal address in my Google Calendar settings
A Google Workspace account where an administrator has not enabled external calendar sharing. The field is hidden rather than disabled, so nothing on screen explains why it is missing.
Check Integrate calendar on the calendar's settings. If you can see a public URL and a shareable link but no Secret address in iCal format, this is the cause.
A Workspace administrator needs to go to admin.google.com → Apps → Google Workspace → Calendar → Sharing settings, and under External sharing options for primary calendars choose one of the two options at the bottom of the list — the ones that share full event information. Options that share only free/busy information will not expose the private address.
Allow a few minutes for the change to propagate, then reload Google Calendar. Personal @gmail.com accounts are not affected.
I connected Google, but my Zyntro bookings are not in Google
That connection runs the other way. Connecting Google brings your commitments into Zyntro; it does not send Zyntro events out.
Set up the outbound connection as well: create a subscription link on the Zyntro calendar and add it to Google. Most people want both directions.
I added the subscription link and nothing has appeared
Almost always the provider not having fetched yet. The first sync after adding a link is the slowest, and can take hours.
Check the link itself before waiting longer: open it in a browser, where it should offer you a calendar file. If it does, the link is good and the wait is normal.
If the browser shows an error instead, copy the link again from the calendar's settings — a partially copied link is the common cause.
My Google commitments still are not blocking time in Zyntro
Either the inbound connection is not set up, or the sync interval has not come round yet, or the address added was a sharing link rather than the calendar-format address.
Check Integrations for the connection and when it last synced.
If it is there but empty, re-copy the private address from your provider — it must be the one in the standard calendar format, not a link to a web page.
If it synced recently and your commitments are genuinely in that specific calendar, check you connected the right calendar: people with several in Google often publish the wrong one.
Events appear in Zyntro but hours later than I expect
The sync frequency. Zyntro re-reads your calendar on the interval you chose, up to once daily.
Set the frequency to Every hour if you take bookings at short notice. Bear in mind it is still a poll — nothing is instant in either direction.
I edited a mirrored Zyntro event in Google and nothing changed in Zyntro
The mirror is read-only by design. Changes do not travel back along a subscription.
Make the change in Zyntro. If you need to create and edit from your phone or desktop calendar, use device sync, which is genuinely two-way.
A calendar I removed is still showing in Google or Outlook
Turning off or replacing the link stops it updating; it does not reach into someone's calendar app and delete what is already there.
Delete the subscribed calendar in Google or Outlook as well. The two actions are separate: one stops the supply, the other removes the copy.
A colleague's commitments are not protecting them on a group calendar
Connections are per person. One member connecting their calendar does nothing for anyone else.
Each member connects their own calendar. On a group calendar this is the single biggest factor in whether allocation sends meetings to people who can actually take them.
The subscription link stopped working for everyone at once
The link was replaced or turned off in the calendar's settings. Both end every existing subscription immediately.
Create a link again if that was not intended, and share the new one with anyone who needs it. Remember that anyone still holding the old link now has nothing.
Troubleshooting Guide
Are you expecting Zyntro events to appear somewhere else?
Does Integrations show the connection with a recent sync?
Has it been less than a day since you added a subscription link?
Frequently Asked Questions
No. Inbound runs on the sync frequency you chose, and outbound runs on the provider's own schedule, which they do not let you control.
No. Both directions are per person, so each member sets up their own.
Treat it as you would a password. Anyone with the link can read that calendar without signing in. If one gets out, use Replace link.
Imported commitments occupy time in Zyntro like any other event. If a calendar contains things you would rather colleagues did not read, consider connecting a calendar that holds only your working commitments.
