Choose Your Colours
Sixteen ready-made palettes, or your own brand colours entered directly.
Step 1 asks for your colours. Every page Webby builds will draw from what you choose here, so this is the single decision with the widest reach.
You have two routes: pick a ready-made palette, or enter your brand's colours yourself.
Steps
Pick a palette, or enter your own
Sixteen palettes are offered, each with the mood it is aiming at — Bold & Confident for professional authority, Warm & Approachable for something friendlier, Monochrome Power, Terracotta & Clay, Midnight Elegance, Ocean Breeze and so on. Each shows its actual colours, so judge them on what you see rather than the name.
If your brand already has colours, use Or enter your brand colors manually and put them in directly. This is the right choice whenever brand consistency matters more than picking something that photographs well.
Think about where each colour will land
A palette is not one colour; it is a set of roles. One colour will carry your buttons and links, another will be behind most of your text, another will be the page background.
The common mistake is choosing a palette on the strength of its boldest colour. That colour will mostly appear in small doses. The ones doing the real work are the background and the text colour, and they are the ones to check you can live with.
Continue
Your choice is saved as you move on. You can come back with Back at any point in the wizard, and you can change colours afterwards in Site Settings > Design System.
Tip: Colours are checked for contrast when your design system is generated, and you are told if any combination will be hard to read. You do not have to get the accessibility right by eye.
Result
A palette is recorded against the site and the wizard moves to typography.
