Connecting Live Chat

A chat widget on every page, tested the way a visitor meets it.

The Live Chat tab connects one of your chat widgets to the site. Enabled, it appears on every page.

It is a short tab — the work of setting up what the chat actually says and does happens where the widget is configured, not here.

Before You Begin

  • A chat widget already set up for this brand — the tab tells you if there are none

Steps

Choose a widget

Select Chat Widget lists the widgets available for this brand, and the tab confirms which one is active.

If none are listed, there are none for this brand yet and the widget has to be created before this tab can do anything.

Enable it

Turn Enable Live Chat on and save. The widget appears on every page of the site.

Test it as a visitor

Open the published site and start a conversation. Ask something a real visitor would ask.

This is worth doing properly rather than typing test — you are checking that the answers are good, not only that the widget loads.

A chat widget that answers badly is worse than no chat widget. Its first impression is the business's.

Think about where it is most useful

Chat earns its place on pages where a visitor is deciding — pricing, a service page, anything with a form. Those are the moments a quick answer changes an outcome.

The widget is site-wide rather than per page, so the question is whether it suits the site as a whole.

Result

A chat widget on every page, tested as a visitor would meet it.
