Locking an offer to offerings and audiences
What the locks change, and what they leave alone.
The offer form has two toggles near the top of the right-hand column: Lock to specific offering(s) and Lock to specific Audience(s). Both are off by default.
They are worth understanding precisely, because the word lock suggests a restriction and what they actually do is narrow the writing.
Important: A lock changes what gets written, not who gets it. When Zyntro writes your offer's copy it is told which offerings and audiences the offer belongs to, and it writes for those specifically. It does not stop Segmentation Intelligence from using the offer with a contact outside that audience. If an offer must never be mentioned to certain people, do not rely on a lock for that — leave the offer out of Zyntro, or word its terms so the limit is explicit.
Before You Begin
- At least one offering set up, if you want to lock to offerings
- At least one audience segment, if you want to lock to audiences
Steps
Decide whether the deal is genuinely narrower than your business
Ask whether the offer would read oddly to someone outside the group. A discount on one specific product is narrower. A free first month of your whole platform is not.
If the answer is no, leave both toggles off. The copy will then be written for your market in general, which is usually what you want.
Turn on Lock to specific offering(s) and choose them
Switching the toggle on reveals a list of your offerings. Select one or more — the list allows multiple selections, and there is an Apply across all offerings entry if you want the lock recorded but unrestricted.
What this changes: the copy, the email hooks and the image prompts are written about those offerings rather than about your range.
Turn on Lock to specific Audience(s) and choose them
The same pattern, against your audience segments.
What this changes is more noticeable than the offering lock. Zyntro writes hooks, snippets and image prompts per audience, so locking to one audience focuses all of that output on them instead of spreading it across every segment you have.
Create the offer and read what came back
Once the enhancement has run, open the offer and look at the Email Hooks and Visual Frames sections. With a lock in place you should see output concentrated on the audiences you chose. Without one, you will see a group for each of your segments.
Result
The offer carries its locks as part of its record, and the copy reflects them.
An unlocked offer records both locks as off, so you can always tell the difference between an offer that was deliberately left broad and one where the question was never considered.
Troubleshooting
Check that you actually selected entries in the list, not just switched the toggle on. A lock with nothing selected has nothing to narrow to. Re-run the offer with selections made.
There is nothing set up to lock to yet. Add an offering under your brand setup, or an audience segment, and come back.
That is expected. The locks shape the writing and do not restrict delivery. If the offer must not reach those contacts, make the restriction explicit in the offer's terms so any message that mentions it states the condition.
