Email hooks
What a hook is, why there is one set per audience, and where they end up.
What It Is
An email hook is a short angle for opening a message about the offer — the kind of line that would work as a subject line.
The enhancement writes a set of them for each of your audience segments, and they vary deliberately in approach. One leads with the benefit, one with curiosity, one with the deadline or the scarcity. The point is not to pick a winner but to give a range, because what works for a solo consultant is rarely what works for an agency principal.
You will find them on the offer page under Email Hooks, grouped by audience.
Why It Matters
Hooks matter because of where they go: they are handed to Segmentation Intelligence along with the offer itself.
When SI writes a message and decides to bring the offer up, it has the offer's description and terms — the facts — and it also has these hooks. That gives it a tested angle for the audience the contact belongs to, rather than having to construct one from the raw facts every time.
The practical effect is more consistent framing. Your offer gets described the way you would describe it, across many messages written at different moments to different people.
How It Works
The hooks are generated per audience, keyed by audience, and stored on the offer.
When Segmentation Intelligence composes an email or an SMS, it is given your finished offers for the brand. Each one arrives with its name, description, terms, instructions and its hooks.
SI is not obliged to use a hook verbatim, and usually will not — it is writing to one specific contact with the whole history of that relationship in view, and a stock line rarely fits exactly. Treat the hooks as direction rather than as text that will appear unchanged.
You can edit any hook in place on the offer page, add a group for another audience with the plus icon, or remove a group with its bin icon. Edits take effect for every future message once you save.
Examples
Three hooks for one audience
For a two-months-free offer aimed at marketing agencies you might get a benefit line naming the concrete value, a curiosity line about scaling without extra cost, and an urgency line about the days remaining. Segmentation Intelligence picks the register that suits where that contact is in the relationship — urgency for someone who has been weighing it up for weeks, benefit for someone who just arrived.
Why the groups differ
The same offer generates a different set for each audience. A financial adviser and a local service business are being sold the same deal but care about different things, and the hooks reflect that. This is why locking an offer to a single audience concentrates the output: you get depth for that group instead of one set each across all of them.
Editing a hook that misses
If a generated hook overstates something, click it, rewrite it and save. Because Segmentation Intelligence reads the offer at the moment it composes, the corrected line is what every later message is guided by — you do not need to touch anything else.
Tip: Hooks are the one piece of generated offer material that Segmentation Intelligence actually receives. If you want to influence how your offer gets talked about, editing these is the most direct lever you have.
