Choosing Your Registration Fields
Ask for what you will actually use.
Registration Form Fields is the first section of the registration settings. It is where you decide what a visitor has to hand over for a seat.
Steps
Start with the email address
It is the one field that genuinely matters: it is how the registrant is matched to a contact and how the confirmation reaches them.
Add fields you will use
A company name is worth asking for if you sell to businesses, because it is recorded against the contact's organisation. A phone number is worth asking for only if you also want to send the text confirmation.
Leave out what you will not use
Every extra field costs you sign-ups. A field nobody ever reads is pure cost.
Style the form
Form Styles sets the primary colour, the button's background and text colours, and the button's label. The label is worth changing — something specific beats Submit.
Save, then look at it
Open the registration page and check it on a phone as well as a desktop.
Result
The form asks for what you need and looks like it belongs to you. Everything collected lands on the contact record, so a field you ask for is a field you can segment on later.
Troubleshooting
Count your fields. A webinar registration asking for seven things converts far worse than one asking for two, and the extra answers are rarely worth the people you lost.
You have to ask for the phone number on the form. The SMS confirmation has nothing to send to otherwise.
