The Form Builder Screen
Every panel and control, explained
The form builder is where a form's fields are added, ordered and configured. It is reached from My Forms → Edit Fields, and during a form's first build after the welcome screen decision.
The screen has three panels: the field palette on the left, your form in the middle, and the settings for the selected field on the right.
The three panels
| Panel | What it holds | How you use it |
|---|---|---|
| Fields & Content (left) | Every available field type, grouped into collapsible categories, plus the attached schedule controls. | Drag a field onto the canvas, or click it to append it to the end of the form. |
| Form canvas (middle) | Your form as it currently stands, with the form title at the top and the action buttons above it. | Click a field to select it. Drag a field to reorder. Click the title to rename the form inline. |
| Field settings (right) | The settings for whichever field is selected. The controls change with the field type. | Select a field, then work through its label, validation, mapping and conditional logic. |
Canvas controls
Form title
inline text
required
The form's name, editable in place. Click it, type, and it saves as you go. A status indicator beside it confirms the save.
Preview Form
button
optional
Opens the form as a visitor sees it, with desktop, tablet and phone widths to switch between. The preview skips the welcome screen so you can check the fields directly.
Save Progress
button
optional
Saves your fields without leaving the builder. Use it often — the builder does not save automatically.
Continue
button
optional
Saves and moves on to the styling screen. Shown while a form is still being built for the first time.
Warning: The builder does not save on its own. Use Save Progress as you work, particularly before previewing or navigating away.
Attached Schedule (in the left panel)
Attached schedule card
display
optional
Shown when the form has a schedule attached. Displays the schedule's name and details, so you can confirm which calendar the form is booking into.
Attach Schedule
select and button
optional
Choose a schedule and attach it. This adds the calendar step to the form, letting people pick a real available time as part of completing it.
Detach Schedule
button
optional
Removes the calendar step. The schedule itself is untouched and stays available to other forms and booking pages.
Info: A schedule can be attached when the form is first created or at any time from here. A form does not need to be rebuilt to start or stop taking bookings.
Settings common to most field types
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Label | The question or prompt shown to the person filling in the form. |
| Name | The field's internal identifier. Generated for you and not editable. |
| Merge Tag | A token such as {email} you can use to refer to this answer elsewhere, for example in a follow-up message. |
| Required | Whether the form can be submitted without an answer. |
| Placeholder and Hint | Guidance shown inside and beneath the input. |
| Validation | What counts as an acceptable answer, plus the message shown when it does not. Varies by field type. |
| Map Data To | Where the answer goes: a CRM field, contact notes, profile data, or nowhere. Covered in its own article. |
| Conditional Logic | Rules that show, hide, skip to or pre-fill fields based on earlier answers. |
