Pausing, Editing and Deleting a Stream
A stream has four states: draft, active, paused and completed. Pausing is the control you will use most, because it is the immediate way to stop a stream spending.
Steps
Pause an active stream
From My Streams, click the pause icon on the stream's row. It stops acquiring immediately and spends nothing further.
Pausing changes nothing about leads already acquired. They stay where they are, quarantined leads remain reviewable, and contacts already pushed to your CRM carry on as normal — including any sequence they are enrolled in.
Resume a paused or draft stream
Click the play icon. The stream becomes active and resumes on its next scheduled window. A draft stream activating for the first time behaves the same way.
Edit a stream
Use the pencil icon from the stream's own page, or open the stream and choose Edit. The same form you created it with reopens, populated.
You can change the name, volume, criteria, tier, schedule, threshold, audiences, offerings, allocation, communication settings and objective. The stream type cannot be changed — an acquisition stream cannot become a feeder.
Understand what an edit applies to
Edits affect future acquisition and scoring only. Leads already acquired keep the data bought at the old tier, and leads already scored keep their score and their outcome. Lowering a threshold does not release leads already quarantined, and raising it does not withdraw leads already pushed.
Delete a stream
Click the trash icon on the stream's row and confirm in the dialog. This removes the stream permanently and cannot be undone.
Result
The stream is paused, updated or removed. Contacts already created in your CRM are unaffected by any of these actions — once a lead has been pushed it is an ordinary contact and no longer depends on the stream.
What each action affects
| Action | Spending | Leads in the stream | CRM contacts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pause | Stops immediately | Untouched and still reviewable | Unaffected |
| Resume | Restarts on the next window | Untouched | Unaffected |
| Edit | Continues under the new settings | Already-acquired leads keep their data and scores | Unaffected |
| Delete | Stops permanently | No longer reachable — see the warning below | Unaffected |
Warning: Review a stream's quarantine before deleting it. Deleting removes the stream itself, but its leads are not deleted with it — and because the quarantine queue is reached through the stream page, any leads still held there become unreachable once the stream is gone. There is no screen to review, move, push or discard them from afterwards. Clear the Quarantined tab first: push through what you want, move what belongs elsewhere, discard the rest.
Important: Deleting is permanent and the dialog says so. If you only want a stream to stop, pause it — a paused stream costs nothing, keeps its configuration, keeps its leads reviewable, and can be resumed at any time. There is no reason to delete a stream merely to stop it.
Info: A stream that reaches its own end condition — a stop date, or a lead count — moves to completed rather than being deleted. Its page and its leads remain available, which is the behaviour you want when a campaign finishes.
Tip: Pausing is the right response to an unexpected cost. It takes effect at once, and it buys you time to read the quarantine and work out whether the problem is the criteria, the tier or the objective — none of which you can diagnose while the stream is still acquiring.
