Contact Verification
Find out which of your email addresses and phone numbers are real, and what it costs to find out
Most contact databases carry a tick next to an email address that nobody ever checked. The address arrived through a form, an import or a call, and something stamped it as verified on the way in.
Contact verification replaces that with an answer from outside Zyntro. For an email address, a provider is asked whether the mailbox accepts mail. For a phone number, a provider is asked whether the number exists, and for North American numbers a carrier is asked whether it is a mobile or a landline. Whatever comes back is stored on the contact.
You run it from Manage Contacts: open Sales > CRM > Contacts and click the Manage contacts icon in the button bar above the list. Only an administrator can start a verification job, because it spends from your organisation's wallet.
Key Concepts
The answer an external provider gave about one specific address or number, stored on the contact. This is the only thing Zyntro counts as verified.
The older email_verified / phone_verified value on a contact. It is set by importers, forms and manual clicks, so it says what something claimed, not what a provider found.
The contact holds an address or number, and no provider has ever been asked about it. This is the group most contact databases are almost entirely made of.
A provider was asked and could not reach a verdict. Some mail servers refuse delivery probes, so this is a real outcome rather than a failure. These are refunded.
A domain configured to accept mail at every address. Delivery to one is accepted without telling you whether the mailbox exists, so these are shown separately from plain verified addresses.
Whether a phone number is a mobile or a landline. A landline takes calls and can never take an SMS.
One run against one group on one channel. It is priced and charged when you confirm it, then works through its contacts in the background.
Capabilities
Check a whole group at once
The banner on Manage Contacts counts each group for email and phone and offers a priced button per group.
See who is in a group first
Every count in the banner is a button. It opens the contacts behind the number, with no charge for looking.
Opt contacts out from the list
Addresses that cannot be reached can be suppressed from the same dialog, with an option to stop automated engagement as well.
Check only what you select
Select rows in the contacts table and use Verify Email or Verify Phone to check just those.
Check one contact from its own page
Click the seal beside a contact's email or phone to check that one, at the same per-contact rate.
Stop texting landlines automatically
When a carrier identifies a number as a landline, Zyntro suppresses SMS to that contact and leaves calling alone.
Get money back for non-answers
Anything a provider could not answer is refunded to the wallet when the job finishes.
How It All Fits Together
Verification does not send anything. It changes what the rest of Zyntro is willing to send.
- Segmentation Intelligence picks a channel per contact. An address proven undeliverable and a number proven to be a landline both narrow that choice to something that can actually arrive.
- Email sending checks an address before every send when its stored flag is not set. A verified address is sent without that check; an address verification found undeliverable fails the check on every attempt and is reported as an invalid recipient.
- SMS sending and SMS broadcasts skip any contact with an SMS opt-out, which is what makes the automatic landline suppression effective immediately.
- Calling is untouched by SMS suppression. A landline is often the best number you have.
Important: Verification costs money per contact and the charge is taken when you confirm. Read the group you are about to buy — the review list is free, and on most accounts the never-checked group is far larger than it looks.
